Grandmaster Simon Kim

Trained under the Late 9th dan Supreme Grandmaster Tiger Kim at the tender age of 3 years old.  The older of the famous Tiger Twins by five minutes, Grandmaster Simon had numerous competition awards and medals as a child, junior and adult.  He currently holds a 7th dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

By the age of 10 years old, he has been exposed to the world stage performance in front of a live audience at the World Famous Madison Square Garden,  which was televised on ABC’s Wide World of Sports.  This became a prelude for the years to come as a Performer and Actor in some of Hollywood’s biggest Action Films. 

The discipline obtained by the martial arts training gave him the discipline and focus to work side by side with the biggest Hollywood Stars like “Jackie Chan, Chuck Norris, Steven Segal and Arnold Schwarzeneggar.” Just to name a few.  Grandmaster Simon Kim has been in over 50 different T.V. Series, exhibiting and performing his incredible Martial Arts Skills. 

His biggest achievements are not from any film or T.V. but from his own Tae Kwon Do studios.  Its changing people’s lives one class at a time, by teaching important Martial Arts skills like self-discipline, self-confidence, honesty, Integrity and perseverance.  Grandmaster Simon  has already promoted thousands of students to black belt and hundreds more as Masters.

He has given back to the community by teaching TKD to inner city kids in Los Angeles called “LA Fit for Kids.” And, in the East Coast he has performed to put a smile and hope for children with cancer and terminal illness at the Children’s Hackensack Hospital, while raising thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society and Muscular Dystrophy.

Grandmaster Simon Kim’s goals are to reach out to as many children as possible to teach them the benefits of TKD, that all children can become leaders and not followers.  He hopes that through TKD the world would be a much safer, healthier and loving community.

Supreme Grandmaster Tiger “Sang Soo” Kim
9th Dan Black Belt

In the mid 1950’s The Late Supreme Grandmaster Kim had become known as one of the top Tae Kwon Do competitors in the World.  He won numerous national and world championships that made him very popular in Korea. This popularity is what led him to the United State in the early 1970’s., to promote Tae Kwon Do. 

His name Tiger was given to him at an early age when he would train in the woods by leaping over rocks, jump kicking trees and having a powerful body which was very symbolic of a Tiger.  It has been said that he can stare down a tiger with his amazing focus and intensity.

From the mid-1970’s to the 80’s, Supreme Grandmaster Tiger Kim was the showcase of the famous Oriental World of Self-Defense, televised on ABC’s Wide World of Sports which was held at the World Famous Madison Square Garden.  From then on he performed at over hundreds of famous venues all over the world to promote Tae Kwon Do. 

S.G. had one of the most successful and largest Tae Kwon Do academies in the East Coast with a student base of over 1000 students.  He also taught the Cadets at the prestigious U.S. West Point Military Academy for many years.  He trained the world famous Mohammad Ali for an international fight in Japan to prove the world’s best fighter.  This event marked as one of the first mixed martial arts event of its kind.

S.G. Tiger Kim has promoted many of the World’s most famous Masters of today, including the World Famous Tiger Twins and Grandmaster B.M. Kim.   His legacy will continue to grow in to the next generations to come.  He has always taught his students to never stop training and never stop striving to learn.  But the most important thing was always give back to the community by teaching and helping those most in need.  Many of the break-a-thons and kick-a-thons to raise money for charity events was formed by the late Supreme Grandmaster Tiger Kim.
